It went to the fourth and final round of voting but the NFL owners decided to grant Super Bowl XLVIII to the New York/New Jersey bid in 2014.
New York/New Jersey beat out Tampa and South Florida to earn the bid.
Perhaps the funniest part of watching the NFL Network presentation was seeing members of the NY/NJ contingent pop champagne bottles. I was hoping for the pour on the head but alas common sense prevailed.
The first ever cold weather Super Bowl is on for 2014. Roger Goodell will be quietly hoping he doesn’t get two dome teams playing in that one.
