The Redskins began their plan for global domination by signing former Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to a seven year, $100 million deal with $41 million guaranteed. It marks the first time in NFL history that a defensive player received a $100 million contract.
From an X’s and O’s standpoint, this helps the Redskins against the run-heavy Giants. Yet, they still need a pass rush which has been vacant from the Redskins defense for quite sometime.
I’m not a huge fan of this deal because it just seems like it’s another big move made by the Redskins that ultimately will not payoff. Don’t get me wrong. He’ll help but at the end of the day, there are other needs on that team and giving a defensive tackle $100 million over seven years isn’t the best way to address those issues.
