With Dan Orlovsky listed as the backup quarterback, the Texans decided to further bolster the quarterback position after starter Matt Schaub. After all, prior to the signing of former Bears quarterback Rex Grossman, the Texans were one hit away from a player who helped author an 0-16 season in Detroit.
While Grossman isn’t exactly going to conjure up memories of John Unitas, at least he’ll actually work with some capable NFL receivers like Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter should Schaub bite the dust. In fact, Schaub’s track record would indicate such an occurrence is destined to happen. During his two years with Houston, he has missed at least five starts each season.
