A very bizarre hour of NFL related news. Within the span of an hour’s time, it was revealed that Brett Favre will stay retired and soon after, the sad news of the passing of former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson.
Obviously, this Favre stuff will be beaten into the ground. Meanwhile, Johnson’s cancer related death is sad on numerous levels. While head coach Andy Reid got a lot of credit for turning around a struggling franchise, Johnson deserves a tremendous amount of praise for his success.
He formed one of the league’s toughest defenses over the decade; building a unit that was known for outnumbering and outsmarting opponents with frequent blitz packages.
All those who watched him coach, played for or against him, respected him. He will be sorely missed.
