In what began to develop into a bizarre replay of last year’s Indy/New England 4th and 2 debacle, finished as a win for the Patriots, who held on for dear life to defeat the Colts 31-28 on Sunday.
The Patriots built a 31-14 fourth quarter lead but their offense stalled on multiple drives, which allowed Peyton Manning to push Indy within three points of the Pats.
However, trailing 31-28 in the game’s waning moments and deep in New England territory, Manning threw an interception to Patriots safety James Sanders.
New England’s defense, which allowed Manning to throw for 396 yards and four touchdowns, also picked him off three times.
If he hasn’t already, Tom Brady became a member of the James Sanders Fan Club today.
