Top 10 Moments of the 2008 Season

The Top 10 Moments of the 2008 Season: #5

Over the next few days, we’ll examine the top 10 moments of the ‘08 season leading up to the moment that defined the 2008 NFL season.

5. Motown Clowns: Detroit loses to Green Bay to become the first NFL team ever to go 0-16.

Rod Marinelli seemed like a nice guy. However, that matters little in the National Football League. Despite being fired soon after season’s end, Marinelli wears the ultimate NFL scarlet letter as the head coach of a team that went 0-16.

The season of futility featured an inability to run, catch, or play any form of defense. It all culminated in Week 17 for the Lions with a loss to the division rival Packers.

Detroit’s only saving grace in 2008, wide receiver Calvin Johnson, suggested that some of his teammates had something on their minds other than football prior to the 31-21 loss to Green Bay.

Well Calvin, it appears your suspicions were correct.  The 0-16 Lions will live on in imperfection. Eat your hearts out ’76 Bucs.
