Despite Economic Crisis Redskins Set To Pony Up Dough For Haynesworth

According to the Houston Chronicle, Albert Haynesworth is set to sign with the Washington Redskins once the free agency period begins on February 27. The deal could be worth $15 or $16 million per season and likely to get the past $100 million marker in the deal.

I’m not sure what my reaction is if I’m an NFC East executive if this happens. While it’s a game planning nightmare potentially, do you get the same feeling that it’s Washington who has lavishly spent on washed up versions of Deion Sanders and Bruce Smith; while backing up the Brinks truck for Antwaan Randle-El?

In other words, isn’t this doomed to fail anyways?

Good for Washington but they’ve won the offseason numerous times and somehow haven’t appeared in an NFC title game in 17 years. With the considerable amounts of problems they have elsewhere (on offense for starters), color me not worried if I’m rooting for another NFC East team.
