Dallas Cowboys

More T.O. Analysis

In the wake of T.O.’s release, Dallas seems to be indicating a few things as they approach the second leg of free agency and the draft in April.

  1. Jerry Jones means business: Despite being a bit of grandstander as an owner, Jerry Jones wants to win at the end of the day and the implosion in Philadelphia was the tipping point. Someone had to fall on the grenade and T.O. was next in line.
  2. Roy Williams is the team’s number one receiver: Jason Witten will be Tony Romo’s main go to guy. Williams appears slow and is a tad bit brittle. What exactly did he show as a Cowboy to make you believe he’ll be a good number one receiver? Sam Hurd, Miles Austin, and Patrick Crayton round out a rather average looking group of wide receivers.
  3. Dallas will have to change its identity on offense: They have three running backs in Marion Barber, Tashard Choice, and Felix Jones that can move the ball on the ground. Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett will have to move the ball on the ground a little bit more. The receiving group is not a strong one. Thus, it’ll be imperative that they run ball far more effectively than last year.

Wow. What a mess in Dallas.
