Another offseason and more Anquan Boldin trade rumors. While any trade plans in previous offseasons fell through, it appears now would be the right time to deal him. Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic believes a deal could be in the works.

Boldin is entering the final year of his contract and will turn 30 in October. While he helped the Cardinals reach the Super Bowl during the 2008 season, he has struggled to stay healthy in part due to his bruising style of play. During his seven NFL seasons, he only played all 16 games twice.

It will be interesting to see what type of market value exists for a guy who might be injury prone and is set to turn 30. In years past, we’ve heard teams like the Giants and Eagles thrown around as possible suitors. This time around, the New England Patriots seem to be one team that people have speculated might be interested in Boldin.

The Patriots do have a need at receiver with questions arising about the future of Randy Moss and the injury status of Wes Welker. Plus, New England has four picks in the first two rounds of the 2010 NFL Draft. Thus, they have some bargaining chips if interested.

Throughout his career, Boldin has proven to be an emotional type. Keeping him around in a lame duck year without an extension just might be a bad idea for Arizona.
