Delhomme Cut By Panthers

So long Jake.

During the ’09 offseason, the Panthers decided to give Jake Delhomme a contract extension after perhaps the worst performance of his career during a playoff loss to the Cardinals. One year later, he is on the unemployment line.

Delhomme led the Panthers to Super Bowl XXXVIII, a loss to the New England Patriots. However, he failed to reach those heights in subsequent postseason appearances.

Now 35, Delhomme will likely give way to Matt Moore, who won four of his final five games as a starter in 2009. He also recently received a $3 million tender from the team.

Obviously, they will attempt to go into training camp with Moore playing a significant role with the team. Michael Vick expressed interest in joining the Panthers but  it appears Moore will be the man.
