April is quite the month. It features the conclusion of the NCAA tournament, beginning of the NBA and NHL playoffs, the NFL Draft and of course, the start of another baseball season.
I am compelled to discuss such a matter after traveling to a local Modell’s store in search of more Phillies gear. It was during the aforementioned trip that I stumbled across a horrific discovery.
The store, to no fault of its own, was selling a Chase Utley Phillies jersey…in the midnight green colors of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Typically, such a synergistic approach to marketing might be welcome. However, this is a clear jersey violation. Do the Phils really need to sell jerseys in Eagles colors? Something just doesn’t feel right about it or maybe it is because the jersey is just plum ugly.
Regardless of the circumstances, it’s awful. I will only accept sales of such a jersey if it means we will get Cliff Lee back in ’11 or the team re-signs Jayson Werth.
