NFL Lockout Day #43: Wes Welker Is Totally Cool With A Lockout

One of the fears any football fan should have regarding labor negotiations is the overall collective willingness of the players to get a deal done.

For every player that wants to get a deal done, others are not quite interested in an immediate resolution.

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker expressed his feelings on Saturday to the Associated Press about what the lockout means to him.

Let’s do a lockout every year.

While Welker said this in a tongue-in-cheek manner, he continued to assess the players’ current state of affairs:

I think once people start losing paychecks, it’ll probably be a little bit different. But I’m not too concerned right now. Hopefully at some point we get a deal done.

Welker explained that being on your own schedule and not having to answer to anyone was an advantage but his message is one that will likely come up for quite some time.

The players are not likely to long for OTAs and training camps.

However, those paychecks?

That’s a far different issue.
