Terrell Owens Has A Torn ACL

Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Terrell Owens is recovering from a recent surgery by Dr. James Andrews to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in one of his knees.

Mystery surrounds the injury’s circumstances. One source in the Mortensen story claimed it happened during his reality show, while another suggested it took place in a personal workout.

The timing couldn’t be worse for the 37-year-old Owens, who already brings his own baggage. Normally recovery time for a torn ACL injury is at least six months, which for all intensive purposes ends any hopes he would have of playing this season.

I’m sure he’ll be back looking for work once his rehab is over and 2012 arrives but teams will not be so quick to jump at a receiver pushing 40, coming off of major knee surgery (and a torn meniscus as a Bengal in 2010).

There is a good chance we’ve seen the last of Terrell Owens in an NFL uniform.
