So, remember when Joe Montana didn’t show up the final game at Candlestick Park last December?
Welp, it’s about to get awkward again in San Francisco.
It appears the 49ers are about to battle arguably their greatest player over something quite bizarre – parking spaces.
The 49ers are in need of more parking spaces for the brand new Levi’s Stadium that will debut in August.
Montana’s new hotel and entertainment complex project stands in the way. The 49ers want Montana to part with 789 parking spots where his project will stand.
If not, the team is threatening to block the four-time Super Bowl champion’s project.
Moving forward with Montana’s project would mean Santa Clara would need over eight acres of new land.
Despite his stature as one of the greatest players in team (and NFL) history, Montana and the city he helped put on the football map in the 80s may be at odds for quite sometime.
