We’ll have plenty more on this game and I’m sure everyone is going to throw Brett Favre under the bus because it’s the easiest thing to do. However, the officiating in overtime will not be appearing at any refereeing clinics anytime soon. All of the turnovers will haunt Vikings fans but that Ben Leber pass interference penalty in overtime was outrageous. After all, you need to be able to catch the ball for it to be pass interference and having the defender make contact would have helped too.
Check out this post from The Fifth Down, the New York Times football blog, which gives a breakdown of the officiating gaffes. It certainly doesn’t excuse Minnesota’s error prone ways but it was hard not to notice.
