Remember Wes Welker’s torn left knee ligaments? They have company now. The Patriot receiver is not only recovering from surgery on a torn ACL and MCL but also is trying to mend a torn rotator cuff as well.

Evidently, the story was first reported on a site called Big Rips. The blog’s author cited a source which proclaimed Welker not only suffered from a torn rotator cuff but also that it would sideline him for the entire 2010 season.

While that remains to be seen, the Patriots already needed to think about life without Welker in 2010 considering how ineffective players tend to be following a severe knee injury.

Welker’s latest ailment puts the Patriot receiving corps under a greater microscope. An aging Randy Moss, the unproven Sam Aiken, Julian Edelman will serve as Tom Brady’s go to weapons in the receiving department. However, the Patriots must do something in the draft to turn such matters around since they did not land new Ravens receiver Anquan Boldin.

Perhaps it is time for all fantasy football folks and Patriots fans to do some heavy Wikipedia based research on Edelman if they have not started already.
