According to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Ben Roethlisberger’s day of reckoning is likely to come on Monday or Tuesday of this week. Cole says that the league will likely suspend the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback early this week.

Based off of the league’s schedule of events this weekend, I’m guessing this will happen on Monday. Remember, the league will release the schedule on Tuesday and for media attention purposes, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to have two planned but separate announcements on the same day.

Then of course, the draft starts Thursday night. Thus, we are left with Monday as the viable candidate.

As for how many games Roethlisberger will be suspended, I’m going to guess four but if he gets more than that it makes sense. If I played the role of Rog Goodell, I would sit him for six weeks.

Two games does not send a strong enough message. If you want these guys to behave, you’ve got to make them pay for their conduct. Goodell certainly does not have a problem doing just that.
