Prior to the 1993 NFL season, the Kansas City Chiefs acquired Joe Montana via trade from the 49ers and were looking to change their postseason fortunes with the Mighty Joe at the helm instead of Dave Krieg. Behind Montana’s sharp passing and the resurgence of Marcus Allen, Kansas City won the AFC West and won their opening round playoff game in overtime versus Bill Cowher’s Pittsburgh Steelers. That setup a battle between Cool Joe and Buddy Ryan’s evil 46 defense in Houston for the AFC Divisional round. The result? Another Montana masterpiece.
