The real MVP of the Phillies’ 4-2 Game 5 win was Ryan Madson, who struck out Buster Posey, Pat Burrell, and Cody Ross in order during a pivotal bottom of the 8th inning stretch.
However, the Phillies gave closer Brad Lidge some breathing room thanks to a long ball by Jayson Werth in the ninth inning that gave the Fightins a 4-2 edge.
Werth also doubled off Ross earlier in the game after a brilliant throw from right field to third base.
Fear the beard.
After tonight’s 4-2 win, one down, two more to go.
Until Saturday, we dance.
P.S. Not to rain on the parade but Roy Halladay suffered a mild groin pull. Fantastic.
