Trip Gate: Sal Alosi Suspended Without Pay After Tripping Incident

Sal Alosi, the Jets strength and conditioning coach, took it upon himself to trip Miami Dolphins special teamer Nolan Carroll on Sunday during the team’s 10-6 defeat.

As a result, the team suspended Alosi without pay for the rest of the season and fined him $25,000 today.

“My conduct was inexcusable and unsportsmanlike and does not reflect what this organization stands for,” said Alosi, who has been with the team for eight years.

Yep. That sums it up perfectly.

  2. Wow. I saw that this morning on the news and could not believe it. I think this guy has some serious problems and would not want to be his wife or girlfriend. He probably has anger issues he can’t control and obviously will stoop to any level if he can’t have things go his way. Makes you wonder what kinds of others things he does underhanded or where else in his life he plays “dirty.” He has no integrity of any sort to do something like that.

  3. Looks like the coach had already established where he was standing and didnt stick out the leg at all, (and was clearly out of the field of play) …the player ran into him, simple as that.

  4. This is absolutely horrible. I saw the highlight of this incident on Sportscenter yesterday. I cannot believe a coach would do something so silly like that. He tripped Carroll right in front of the camera so everybody saw it. And Carroll was briefly hurt as a result. There was no need for Sal Alosi to act like that. It was childish and very unprofessional. Alosi’s punishment was too light. I think he should’ve been fired.

  5. Wow, this is just one sick man doing this. I mean seriously? What has happend to old values like fair play, being a sportsman and let the best team win? Doing this should mean they sack this guy. What a morron.

  6. I’ve heard a lot of people saying he should have been fired. I don’t know the guy but assuming he is a decent person and has been a good coach up til now, I think the penalty is fine as it is.

  7. He should have been fired. The fact that he is still employed is remarkable…and unfortunate. That’s all this guy will be remembered for. He dishonored the Jets organization and for that alone, he should have been fired.

  8. He’s lucky that the didn’t get fired. With the NFL technology in camera’s and instant replay, did he actually believe that he could completely get away with it?

    • Yes. They allege it’s happened before, which I don’t doubt. However, to do something like that in this era is just plain foolish.
