Are you old enough to remember the barefoot stylings of former Philadelphia Eagles kicker Paul McFadden?
If not, that is perfectly fine.
Anyway, Tampa’s 17-16 win last Sunday is slightly reminiscent of a forgettable Philadelphia sports disaster.
Back in ’84, the lowly Eagles visited the 10-0 and eventual AFC champion Miami Dolphins, led by second-year quarterback Dan Marino.
Trailing 24-17 with two minutes left, Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski connected with the immortal Melvin Hoover on a touchdown pass to draw within one.
All they needed was an extra point from McFadden to tie.
They didn’t get it.
