NFL Lockout Day #13: To Replace Or Not To Replace

Boston Globe writer Shalise Manza-Young posed an interesting question on Twitter Wednesday night related to the NFL’s work stoppage.

Are we such a football-hungry country that we would actually accept replacement players?

Or would we rather live dangerously and go without football altogether for an entire season potentially if it is not played at its current standard?

As surprising as this might seem, when choosing between replacement players or no 2011 NFL season, I’d easily choose the latter.

I want football played correctly and at the highest level or not at all.

The concept of seeing scrap heap guys play meaningful roles in an NFL season (as was the case in 1987) makes little sense.

Collectively, NFL fans spend far too much energy and money on a weekly basis during the season to perhaps see guys that should be playing in a local semi-pro league.

Alas, poll time…
