Some knucklehead felt it was necessary to buy a Brett Favre Eagles jersey, just in case he pops up in Philadelphia, which might happen.
According to reports, the Eagles are interested in signing Favre as a backup to Michael Vick.
While I am highly against bringing in the 41-year-old Favre (which will likely be a point of discussion down the road in a post), he fits the profile of what the Eagles will need at some point.
Backup quarterback Kevin Kolb is all but out of Philadelphia once the lockout is settled and Philly will need a suitable veteran choice behind Michael Vick, whose reckless running style makes him highly susceptible to injury.
Last season, Vick missed three games after suffering an injury to his ribs and chest versus Washington last October.
Thus, a veteran backup is almost mandatory unless the Eagles think highly of third-stringer Mike Kafka.
Eagles head coach Andy Reid and the momentarily retired Favre have a history together dating back to their time together with Green Bay during the 90s.
If the Eagles do sign Favre, I can’t think of a more polarizing combination of quarterbacks to play together under these circumstances.
As a result, the venom and vitriol from Eagles fans would be electrifying.
