During Baltimore’s 23-20 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, it became rather clear that the game’s narrative was going to revolve around Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith.
Late in the fourth quarter, Baltimore’s rookie receiver dropped a potential go-ahead touchdown during the Ravens’ final drive of the game. However, he quickly rebounded by beating Steelers defensive backs William Gay and Ryan Clark on the game’s decisive play, a 26-yard touchdown reception.
Smith’s roller coaster evening began on the game’s first play when Ray Rice busted loose for a 76-yard touchdown run. The play was nullified after Smith was called for a questionable holding penalty on Gay.
Following the game, Rice tweeted about the Smith penalty and his belief that infraction merits a reward.
Smith, who appears to be a rather good sport, insinuated that Gay belongs on an acting plane comparable to Sir Laurence Olivier.

Baltimore’s victory puts them in a first-place tie with the 6-2 Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC North. The two teams will meet on November 20 in Baltimore.
