Billy Cundiff missed a 32-yard field goal in the closing seconds of Sunday’s AFC Championship game to put the New England Patriots back into Super Bowl with a 23-20 victory.
In a season rarity, the Patriots defense bailed out Tom Brady and the offense throughout the game and late in the fourth quarter.
As Baltimore closed in on a go-ahead touchdown with seconds to go, Patriots cornerback Sterling Moore batted a pass away from Ravens receiver Lee Evans, who seemingly had the ball in the bread basket.
After a Flacco incompletion on the following play, Cundiff missed from the right hash, pushing it left.
New England is on its way to another Super Bowl.
Team Brady/Belichick will make their fifth appearance. Meanwhile, the Patriots enter the big game for the seventh time in franchise history.
More to come…
