Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens agreed on a six-year, $120.6 million deal on Friday, which prevents the Audubon, NJ native from testing the free agent waters.
The Super Bowl XLVII MVP will become the NFL’s highest paid player officially on Monday when he signs the contract.
Flacco defeated Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and the man who represented the league’s soup of the month offense, Colin Kaepernick en route to winning Super Bowl XLVII.
During his postseason run, Flacco threw 11 touchdown passes, without an interception; joining Joe Montana as the only players in league history to complete such a task.
By signing a new deal, Flacco avoids becoming a free agent, which could have potentially happened if the Ravens declined to place a franchise tag on their quarterback by March 4.
When you turned on the television last September to watch Dallas and New York open the 2012 season, did you think everything would end with Joe Flacco gaining a $120 million contract out of it?
Well done, Joe.
