Following the arrest and subsequent murder charge against former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez arrives more evidence of the Ex-Gator’s affection for guns.
TMZ Sports released a 2009 selfie photo of Hernandez toting a gun on Wednesday. The photo was taken while Hernandez was a member of the Florida Gator. Months later, New England selected him in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft.
Despite his questionable background heading into the draft, Hernandez appeared to become someone the Patriots trusted.
Just ask Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who received a $50,000 donation from Hernandez in 2012 for the Myra Kraft Giving Back Fund.
Back in August 2012, Kraft heaped glowing praise upon Henandez for his gesture:
“I just think he’s a super player, and really a first-class guy,” Kraft said. “Some people might see all the tattoos on him and think. … Maybe 10 years ago I was in that class, (now) I think ‘Wow, this guy’s a good guy.’ And we made a big commitment to him.”
We’ve come a long way in one year.
Now, Hernandez is up for first-degree murder and Kraft reportedly pulled the trigger on his release.
Unfortunately for several parties, Hernandez’s questionable past came to the forefront in a sad way.
