Denver Broncos defensive end Von Miller received a six-game suspension after violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.
Miller’s punishment arrived after negotiations between the Broncos and NFL. The two-time Pro Bowl linebacker spilled a urine sample and eventually submitted a diluted version.
Color John Elway unamused, per USA Today:
“We’re frustrated with what’s happened, and, I think, disappointed in Von,” Broncos executive vice president John Elway said Tuesday. “We’ll live with that decision.”
Miller’s suspension further exposes a Broncos pass rush that could be under fire this season. Following The Great Fax Debacle during the offseason, Elvis Dumervil ended up in Baltimore.
Now, the Broncos will start the season with the pair of pass rushers, whom accounted for 29.5 sacks in 2011.
Miller’s six-game suspension ends at a rather notable point of Denver’s season…just in time for Peyton Manning’s triumphant return to Indianapolis on Sunday Night Football on October 20.
In other news, I would have been totally fine with Roger Goodell suspending Miller just for wearing that pajama onesie during the offseason.
