The NFL Twitter account made a stunning announcement on Tuesday afternoon that commissioner Roger Goodell had died at age 57.
However, the NFL’s big boss was far from desist. An individual hacked into the NFL’s Twitter account to inform the world that the Commish Goodell perished.
The hacker group called the Peggle Crew accessed the e-mail of someone in the NFL’s social media department and discovered the league’s Twitter account password.
The hacker didn’t stop with the original Goodell tweet…
Not to be outshined by some social media hi-jinx, Goodell shot back a tweet of his own to joke about the day’s events:
Goodell, who had been with Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly, assured the masses he was just fine. While I’m not going to randomly suggest that he might not have actually typed this tweet, I suppose he wanted to show that he had a sense of humor.
It capped a strange social media day for Goodell, who made banked $34 million during the 2014-15 season. Earlier on Tuesday, a photo surfaced of a Patriots fan posing with him while serving up a middle finger.
Stay golden, Roger.
