The last two Super Bowl champions will open the 2011 NFL season on Thursday, September 8 when the Green Bay Packers host the New Orleans Saints. Yet, an obvious black cloud hangs over this news.
The NFL and NFLPA agreed upon a 24-hour extension of the current collective bargaining agreement on Thursday. According to numerous sources, the extension allows both sides to examine prospective deals past the original deadline of Thursday at 11:59 p.m. ET.
