Ok, let’s take stock of Arizona’s offseason happenings thus far in the last week since Santonio Holmes scored the game winning touchdown and then subsequently LeBron’d the Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII.
- Lost offensive coordinator Todd Haley, who became the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs.
- Fired defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast.
- Their starting quarterback may or may not return.
- Anquan Boldin claims he will never play for the team again.
Let us assume that the last two items turnaround and both Warner and Boldin play for the Cardinals next year. Arizona will have to replace their defensive coordinator. Offensively, head coach Ken Wisenhunt may grab playcalling duties even if they do grab an offensive coordinator.
These two factors will make it hard for the Cardinals to be in the same position they were in last season. Listening to Boldin and Warner talk, they sound like two guys who have played their last down for the Cards.
With the coaching upheaval, it will be very difficult for the Cards to get back to the Super Bowl regardless of who is playing at quarterback and receiver for Arizona in 2009.
