The conclusion of the Pro Bowl marks the official end of the 2008 season. Over the next few days, we’ll examine the top 10 moments of the ’08 season leading up to the year’s biggest moment.
10. The Ravens pull the plug on Texas Stadium:
In a what amounted to a playoff game, the Cowboys and Ravens met during Week 16in what turned out to be the final game in Texas Stadium’s grand 37 year history.
Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco authored one of his biggest wins of the season thanks to a menacing fourth quarter running game and a bruising defense.
Speaking of which, the Ravens defense basically shut down the “mighty” Cowboys offense led by Tony Romo, who wilted under the pressure of the Baltimore defense until late in the fourth quarter.
Baltimore’s D carried the mail for the first three quarters of the game, while Baltimore running backs LeRon McClain and Willis McGahee took care of business in the fourth with marathon touchdown runs to put the game out of sight.
The win eventually propelled Baltimore into the playoffs with a win over Jacksonville the following week. Meanwhile, Dallas fell flat down the stretch and are faced with a tiring list of questions entering the 2009 season.
Suffice to say from the video below, the Ravens took an extra added bit of pleasure in dropping the hammer on Texas Stadium.
