According to NFL Network’s Adam Schefter, Marvin Harrison’s days in Indianapolis are rapidly coming to an end as we approach the beginning of free agency. Harrison, who is 36, would make $13.4 million in 2009. With Reggie Wayne taking the mantle as Indy’s top receiver and Harrison’s production on a rapid decline, the time has arrived for Harrison. It appears his time as a Colt is just about up.
Cutting once great players is always tough for teams. How do you shed a player that that played an intregal part in the team’s success over the last decade?
However, today’s NFL is no place for being sentimental. Also the meek, injured, and unproductive have very little room on teams with salary cap issues. Unfortunately, that roughly covers Harrison these days.
