First and 10: Today’s Ten Best Links – May 29

In an effort to bring you the best in all things NFL and then some, I bring you First and 10, a collection of ten links that will enrich your life somehow or annoy you. Either one works for me.

  1. Disgruntled player wants new deal: Heard that one before? Thomas Jones reports to OTAs but wants a new contract.
  2. Condon to the rescue: Word on the street is that agent Tom Condon has the inside track on Anquan Boldin. According to the New York Post, that is a sign he may end up with the Giants because Condon also represents Eli Manning. Geez. The writer says “there is no harm in speculating.”
  3. Speaking of disgruntled vets: Add Packers receiver Donald Driver to the list of players that wants a new contract. Apparently, the $3.9 million that he’ll rake in this season is not enough.
  4. Hours of lost productivity: Bracketsmackdown.com allows you to create fields of 32 and eventually pick the winner. It’s good to see that whomever created the NFL field of 32 recognized who is the best player in the world.
  5. Who is hot?: Rolling Stone releases its 2009 Hot List, featuring this week’s covergirl Lady Gaga. Easy on the bubbles.
  6. The blame game: T.O. blames Romo and Garrett for Dallas problems. Wow, didn’t see that one coming.
  7. Gamers unite: EA Sports releases the player ratings for Madden 2010. Six players grabbed the all-important 99 rating. I’ll give a hint for one of them: his last name rhymes with tanning.
  8. Some people have laodicean views towards Brett Favre: Kansas girl wins the 2009 Scripps Spelling Bee.
  9. A Stanley Cup finals redo: Wake me up when the Wings lift the Cup.
  10. Cheater!: The University of Memphis is under investigation for their recruitment of players. A Chicago Sun-Times report reveals that former Memphis Tiger guard Derrick Rose had a grade changed during his senior year in high school. Woops!
