Rich Hoffman of the Philadelphia Daily News wrote today that the end could be near for Philly’s Donovan McNabb if he can’t deliver the goods on Saturday night in Dallas. If you remember, during the offseason McNabb received more loot instead of a contract extension.
His current deal runs out after the 2010 season but don’t expect the Eagles to allow that situation to drag out. The team knows that they have backup Kevin Kolb, the alleged quarterback of the future, as their ace in the hole but will not allow McNabb’s situation to become a distraction throughout next season one would think.
Hoffman hypothesizes that if McNabb does not pull through on at least another appearance in the NFC title game, then he is toast as an Eagle. Do I smell the big non-labor strife related storyline of the 2010 season? Even assuming the usual push and pull Brett Favre antics will ensue at some point, I say yes.
If he doesn’t get it done in the postseason, the final bell may ring for McNabb in Philadelphia.

Trade him out and bring ’em in
I think McNabb is toast. It seems like the younger players don’t trust him anyways.
