The conclusion of the Super Bowl XLIV marks the end of the 2009 season. It’s now time to take a look back at the moments that defined the 2009 NFL campaign.

10. Brett Favre’s last second fling saves Vikings.

For the first time during the 2009 season, the Minnesota Vikings needed a last-second push from Brett Favre to save the day.

During Week 3’s home  matchup with the San Francisco 49ers, the Vikings fell behind 24-20 in the fourth quarter. After forcing a three and out from the 49er offense, the Vikings got the ball back with 1:29 left and had to go 80 yards for a score.

The 39-year-old Favre led a drive that seemingly would stall at the 49er 32. With just 12 seconds remaining, Favre went to work. Moving to his right with pressure breathing down his neck, Favre slinged it to a spot in the endzone . Luckily for Minny, Favre’s rocket found Greg Lewis in the back of the endzone to give Minnesota a 27-24 victory.

Lewis’ catch pushed Minny to 3-0, while the Niners suffered their first loss of the season.
