During the offseason, the San Diego Chargers jettisoned the best running back in their franchise’s history.
The Chargers decided to draft Ryan Mathews in April and it was widely assumed by many (including those fantasy football wizards) that he would step right in and fill LT’s spot with ease.
The 31-year-old Tomlinson is working with a great offensive line and is productive for the first time in three years.
Yesterday, he added the 47th 100-yard rushing performance of his career in a 38-14 win over the Bills. He tallied 133 yards and two rushing scores in a thorough whipping of the winless Bills.
He ranks seventh in rushing yardage and is averaging a robust 6.1 yards per carry.
In fact, Tomlinson’s YPC stands fourth behind Michael Vick (7.2), Jamaal Charles (7.0), and Arian Foster (6.3).
As for the Chargers, they had to tap Mike Tolbert for running game production as Mathews battles injury and inconsistency.
Somewhere in the swamps of Jersey, LDT is smirking.
Now, for a musical interlude with The Hives.
