New England Patriots

A MNF Lesson In History

Are you old enough to remember when both the Giants and 49ers were two of the best teams in the sport?

It’s time to revisit 1990. You know, when Michael Jordan did not have an NBA title to his credit and people enjoyed films like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

This year also marked the last time two NFL teams met at this point of the season with at least nine wins to their credit…until tonight.

The 49ers and Giants hooked up for Super Bowl XXIV 1/2 on Monday Night Football back in December of 1990.

Two weeks prior, it was believed that both teams would arrive to that game with an 11-0 record. However, the Eagles and Rams knocked off the Giants and Niners respectively.

San Fran squeaked out a 7-3 win complete with a postgame dust-up between Ronnie Lott and Phil Simms.

I have a feeling we’ll see more than a combined 10 points tonight.
