Don Yee is an important name on the NFL landscape. Yee is Tom Brady’s agent and also represents Saints head coach Sean Payton.
He is also the same person who came up with the worst idea of the year as relates to a proposed 18-game season.
Yee believes all players should be required to sit two regular season games if the NFL goes to an 18-game schedule.
In an e-mail to the Associated Press, Yee explained further:
This compromise will create even more interest from fans. What two games will the head coach sit the starting QB? That’s a discussion that will set sports talk radio airwaves afire.
This compromise will also be popular with coaches and general managers who want a greater opportunity to develop younger players. The NFL doesn’t have a minor league, and this compromise will force meaningful participation by younger players on the roster.
Can you imagine head coaches trying to figure this stuff out?
I understand Yee’s ultimate mission, which is to protect the long-term viability of the players.
However, fans pay far too much money to walk into a stadium and see Peyton Manning, who has never missed a regular season game, sit against the Miami Dolphins because it is one of his two mandatory absences.
I have a better idea.
How about they just keep the schedule to 16 games?

This is a horrible idea. The 18 game thing is a myth. The players need to call the owners bluff on it. Here’s a good link.
