Political talk has very little room on this blog…except when it involves the National Football League.

Tonight, the Iowa Caucus takes place and one of the Republicans looking for a push in his budding presidential campaign is Rick Perry.

During a Republican debate last December, Perry compared himself to Tim Tebow by stating he hoped to be the “Tim Tebow of the Iowa Caucuses.”

His dissertation also included mentions of Tebow allegedly not playing the game correctly and his “mechanisms.”

While I view this as a clear attempt to appeal to conservative supporters of Tebow, it sounds rather comical and cheap.

Days prior to the Perry/Tebow comparison, an ad featuring Republican hopeful Michele Bachmann compared the candidate to the oft-erratic Broncos quarterback.

Politicians everywhere…don’t hitch your caboose to a train that is running right off the track.
