Thursday Night NFL Preseason Potpourri

NFL: Preseason-Cincinnati Bengals at Atlanta Falcons

Cincinnati 34, Atlanta 10 – Cincinnati’s Dane Sanzenbacher scored twice – including on a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown – and got Jon Gruden awfully excited. From the fantasy news department, Bengals rookie running back Giovani Bernard scored while rushing for 28 yards on 10 carries. New Falcon Steven Jackson carried five times for eight yards in his Atlanta debut.

Denver 10, San Francisco 6 – Peyton Manning made a cameo appearance and the Broncos flashed a pistol formation. That makes me highly confused because if Manning uses it, he’s not running. If a back is deep in the set, he will not be throwing. You have Peyton Manning, Denver. Just go with that.

Washington 22, Tennessee 21 – RGIII warmed up and suited up on Thursday…but who cares?!? THIS GUY IS BACK. DUCK FOR COVER OFFENSIVE PLAYERS! In other news, Chris Johnson scored on a 58-yard run for the Titans.

Cleveland 27, St. Louis 19 – The 80th reboot of the Browns franchise started on Thursday with quarterback Brandon Weeden leading the way for Cleveland. He finished 10 of 13 for 112 yards and a score.

Baltimore 44, Tampa Bay 16 – Joe Flacco threw an interception in his first outing since becoming rich enough to buy chicken nuggets without regret. Backup Tyrod Taylor fired two touchdowns.

Seattle 31, San Diego 10 – Tarvaris Jackson and Brady Quinn combined to toss three touchdown passes in a Seahawks rout. As for the Chargers, their uniform nameplates are now gold, so that’s encouraging I suppose.
