Just a week after her wild performance on ESPN’s College GameDay prior to the Ole Miss upset of Alabama, Katy Perry is making more football-related news.
According to the New York Post, Perry will be the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show performer.
Perry, who had been recently critical of the league’s idea to make the Super Bowl halftime performer pay to play, appears to be The Shield’s™ choice to perform in Glendale, Arizona next February.
After years of hammering its audience with older acts like Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, and The Who, the NFL continues its youth movement. Beyoncé and Bruno Mars performed at the last two Super Bowls to more than respectable reviews.
I’m not the biggest fan of Perry’s but she has the type of energy and mojo that would excite a Super Bowl audience.
Watching Perry strut her stuff on the Super Sunday stage is certainly a better choice than Coldplay wailing away about stars being in the sky and whatnot.
Here’s hoping is chugging beers at bars in Arizona come February.
