In the hours following Mark Sanchez taking over the reigns for the injured Nick Foles as Philadelphia Eagles quarterback, former Patriots signal-caller Drew Bledsoe made a bizarre comparison while taking a shot at the Jets.
Bledsoe, who appeared on ESPN Radio Monday, was asked about Sanchez, a former Jets starter, playing for the Eagles when he opted to take a sizable swing at the Jets:
“Going to play quarterback for the Jets … it’s kind of like, you know when they used to take the pretty young virgin up to the edge of the volcano and then just throw them in? That’s kind of what it is when you play quarterback for the Jets. It just feels bad.
“Mark had to live with that for a long time,” Bledsoe added. “And people threw him under the bus like he was the whole reason for the demise of the Jets.
Bledsoe’s last snap as a starting quarterback in New England came against the Jets when linebacker Mo Lewis ushered in the Tom Brady era with a monstrous hit on Bledsoe.
So, he’s not exactly fond of the Jets. But comparing playing for them to being a sacrificial virgin?
