I almost fell out of a car when I saw this Bill Belichick/Rex Ryan photo from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Friday.
Of course, there’s once-again minted champion Bill Belichick wearing a sweet Bill Belichick Foundation hooded sweatshirt with that snazzy logo.
Then, there is Rex.
Ryan is rocking a 1990 Buffalo Bills Thurman Thomas jersey from Super Bowl XXV. Making nice with Buffalo Bills legends is always helpful for your street credit.
The funny part of this photo besides Rex’s jersey choice?
Belichick was one of the key components in preventing Thurman Thomas and the Bills from winning Super Bowl XXV. It was Belichick who served as Giants defensive coordinator and helped slowed one of the great offenses during the Super Bowl era in a dramatic 20-19 win.
Belichick’s Super Bowl XXV defensive game-plan rests in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Thomas still ran wild against the Giants and should have been the game’s MVP. He had less to do with the game’s outcome than, say, the offensive game-planning which kept the K-Gun off the field. C’mon, Jonesy, you know better than that!
