It was a busy weekend for the Seattle Seahawks.
First, they signed quarterback Russell Wilson to a four-year contract extension worth $87.6 million with $60 million guaranteed. Immediately following the signing, middle linebacker Bobby Wagner tweeted “can’t keep everyone.”
Then, Seattle acted quickly by signing Wagner to a new contract a day later. The fun didn’t stop for the defending NFC champions.
Soon after, the Seahawks took to Instagram to post a picture of Wilson handing off the ball to…nobody.
The caption on the picture was straight and to the point:
Yes. We know how you’re going to comment on this photo. Get it out of your system now. It’s time for #WhatsNext. #seahawkscamp #gohawks #12flag #championshipmindset
That followed up Pete Carroll’s Sports Illustrated article that stated he was basically over giving away Super Bowl XLIX. Unless the Seahawks find a way to win another Super Bowl, they can wish that play away all they want.
It’s not going away anytime soon until they win another one.
