After bailing out Taj Smith following an egregious running into the kicker penalty, Peyton Manning watched from the sideline as Nick Folk and the New York Jets knocked off the Colts in the AFC Wild Card round, 17-16 on Saturday night.
Adam Vinatieri’s 50-yard field goal gave Indianapolis a two-point lead with 53 seconds left but thanks to a 47-yard kick return by Antonio Cromartie, Mark Sanchez marched the Jets deep into Indy territory.
A 32-yard field goal later by Folk and the Jets moved on to play the New England Patriots next Sunday at 4:30.
Meanwhile, Indy’s loss caps a day where both Super Bowl XLIV participants were bounced in the opening round.

No surprise that Manning couldn’t get it done when it really matters in the playoffs – his 9-10 postseason record is terrible. There is something intangible he lacks that Montana possessed in spades. And that’s why, no matter what records he goes on to set, he can never be regarded as the best QB of all time. A great? Yes. The best? No way.

I’ve gotten into big battles with people over Manning and I couldn’t agree with you more. A 9-10 playoff record and a 1-1 SB record for someone who is said to be the “greatest of all-time” by some pundits is an absurd notion.
He’s great but you cannot put him in the Montana realm. He’s above Favre but I wouldn’t put him in my top five all-time.
