Pittsburgh’s Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey will miss Super Bowl XLV according to ESPN.
Pouncey suffered a high ankle sprain during the AFC Championship Game last Sunday but was also been diagnosed with a broken bone in his left ankle.
Doug Legursky, a second-year undrafted free agent would step in as Pouncey’s replacement.
During the AFC title game, a botched Legursky to Roethlisberger snap led to a safety for the New York Jets before Pittsburgh eventually sealed up the game.
Regardless, Roethlisberger was likely to see a bevy of blitzes from Dom Capers’ Green Bay defense.
Now, Pouncey’s absence could lead to some heavy blitzing up the middle. It’s a simple formula; attack the weakness.
Bring your hard hat Pittsburgh.

Been hearing this report a lot, a broken bone together with a high ankle sprain makes it pretty certain the stand out rookie won’t be able to go. This will throw the protections into chaos and will hurt the ground game as well. It’s a recipe for disaster when you throw in the play of the Packer secondary in the playoffs. A couple of picks lead to a Packer win – http://theendisalwaysnear.blogspot.com/2011/01/xlv.html
