Michael Vick

Philly Radio Station Calls Itself “All Michael Vick”

A Philadelphia radio station proclaimed itself “All Michael Vick” last Friday after moving frequencies along the FM band.

WPHI branded itself as “All Michael Vick” and “All #7, 24-7” on Friday when the station switched frequencies with WRNB, moving from 100.3 to 107.9.

The rhythmic radio station positions itself as music that Vick listens to, be it on gameday or whenever he pleases.

In fact, when it comes to Vick’s music selections, the station’s website claims “we have no idea what he’s going to do.”

Conceptually, it makes sense to capitalize on Vick’s star regaining power not only around the league, but in the endorsement world as well.

I call nonsense though.

In commercial radio, someone knows what is going to happen.

For example, if Vick decided he wanted to drop in Neil Sedaka, Olivia Newton-John, or Starland Vocal Band, you wouldn’t hear it.

Sounds like a run of the mill hip-hop station to me.
