Aaron Rodgers Named The NFL’s Top Player

Last night, the NFL Network’s Top 100 poll came to its conclusion in unsurprising fashion with Aaron Rodgers finishing number one.

Rodgers bested New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees for the honor.

The 2011 NFL MVP is coming off of a career year during which he fired 45 touchdown passes and posted a quarterback rating of 122.5, the highest single-season mark in league history.

Brees, Detroit’s Calvin Johnson, Tom Brady, and New York Jet Darrelle Revis rounded out the top five.

The list, compiled by the players, seems rather reasonable. The only area of debate in the top five is probably over whether one would swap Brady over Brees, but after throwing for a record-setting 5,476 yards, I suppose the Super Bowl XLIV MVP can make a pretty good case.
