NBC Pipes In Salsa Music For Victor Cruz Touchdown…Again

When Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz scored during last night’s 19-17 Eagles victory, NBC went into its bag of tricks.

The powers that be for the Sunday Night Football production team opted to play salsa music to coincide with Cruz’s celebration.

It’s the second time NBC elected to do it. Last season, Cruz rumbled for a 74-yard touchdown against the Cowboys. Once he arrived to the end zone, NBC played salsa music as Cruz busted a move in the end zone.

Interestingly enough, when Cruz scored in Super Bowl XLVI, the network didn’t go there.

I’ve always been incredibly annoyed by fans who claim networks are out to get their teams because the TV crew doesn’t like them.

Normally, television production crews don’t have time for such conspiracy theory concepts.

Unfortunately, NBC just gave plenty of fans more ammunition.

Whether they realize it or not, playing music in that setting shows favoritism.

There is only one way to even things out.

Do it for every notable star.

When Drew Brees throws a touchdown pass next Sunday night, I want Harry Connick Jr. played.

When Rob Gronkowski scores, play “Sorry for Party Rocking” by LMFAO.

When Peyton Manning whips in a touchdown pass, Joe Walsh’s “Rocky Mountain Way” please.

It’s only fair.

Agree totally with this. I think it’s a cool thing and that’s fine with me. But favoritism is not something we want to see from a network that’s supposed to give fair coverage. Either do it for all teams or don’t do it at all.

  2. It’s the Eagles fan in me talking but just think it’s silly. Just do the game. Don’t try to be the show.
